a CPU review for VR needed? :)
#1
hey guys, great site for VR benchmarks (and more). Actually, the best for VR testing. Congrats @apoppin.
I was curious if you could test CPUs for VR
I'm currently running a Skylake 6700 (non K) and i was thinking if the upgrade should be a new CPU+3060TI vs sticking with the same CPU+3080

Thanks,
M

Thank-you and welcome!

I am planning to run some CPU tests. I have a 6700K/MB that I need to borrow back from Mario. I'll use it to compare VR performance with an OC 8700K and vs. the 10900K OC.
---It will be sometime next month. I still have a ton of reviews to finish first ...

Cyberpunk 2077 tomorrow ... EVGA RTX 3070 FTW3 vs RX 6800 next week ... RX 6900 arrives next week and I have to test it in VR besides in pancake games first.
Good3

However, I'd suggest that you still may be able to OC your 6700 even though it is not a 'K' sufficiently so that a 3080 will make the biggest difference in VR over a CPU upgrade
(depending on your HMD, VR games, etc. ... and wireless requires a fast CPU)

looking forward for your next reviews, not only VR

What video card are you running now?

Just offhand, I'd suggest a new 12000 series CPU because of the performance increase since 6000 series. But an upgrade will depend on what resolution you are playing at, your current card, and expected performance.

It's also a time to possibly wait a bit longer as video cards are just now starting to get cheaper, and 4000 series is expected in the Autumn.
