What's happening at BTR *17*
Transistor is available for free on Epic. Just log-in ... It has mostly positive reviews

New 430.39 driver launched as well as a new GTX 1650 ...
https://babeltechreviews.com/nvidia-laun...39-driver/

Working on a driver performance analysis. EVGA GTX 1650 OtW this week. Also new TeamGroup 3600MHz DDR5. Plus a review of some new SW - CPUCores which is supposed to optimize Windows for gaming.

Back to work!

Definitely some performance increases with 430.39.

Not sure if I am getting a GTX 1650 or not. I am very disappointed that many of them come with a 6-pin PCIe connector - it totally defeats the purpose of the card as a drop-in replacement for a OEM box. It's more expensive and slower than a RX 570. Not sure what Nvidia was thinking. They should have insisted on having the PCIe connector optional to maximize sales - with the connector plugged in you can OC, if not it would stay under 75W. Such a simple solution, I cannot believe they overlooked it ... and now they mostly have negative reviews. Well, it appeared to be a very sloppy and rushed launch anyway. Too bad. Are they losing their edge? They never had any social media marketing worth a damn, and the 1650 is getting ripped to shreds on social media and by the reviewers.

I am getting 3600MHz DDR4 from Team Group; now that review I am pretty excited to perform since I can use better memory (so can my PC)

I got a review key from the creator of CPUCores which promises to increase your FPS by optimizing Windows. I used 20 Steam games which integrate instantly with the platform.

TL;DR Save your $15. "if it sounds too good to be true .... "

It was a short review that took less than a day from start to finish .. now I am uninstalling CPUCores .. and back to VR ...

No EVGA GTX 1650 is coming (I guess they don't like me being honest ahead of receiving it; it's just way overpriced and under-performing - who cares about overclocking it when the RX 570 is cheaper and kicks its ass)
- which is a real relief for me. I would hate to give two negative reviews in a row.

I finally upgraded from HyperX DDR4 at 3333MHz to T-Force DDR4 at 3866MHz. Here is the review:

Congrats on scoring some super fast DDR4 RAM. Your review looks extremely thorough and it's interesting to see the results for gaming.

I had to tone down my overclocks due to instability. I did the whole "sfc /scannow" command thing via the command prompt and it found some corrupt files that it was able to repair. So I knocked back my CAS timings a notch on my RAM and I also lowered my CPU overclock by 100mhz. It seems to be stable since then. However I do have to RMA my GPU due to a black screen bug/glitch. I may wait until later in my RMA window to see if they give me a free upgrade to Turing.

I hope all is well in the desert sun. We're getting some glorious northern sunshine here lately. I love it this time of year where I live. June 21st is the longest day. Lots of daylight here recently. I'm loving it. Good3
Thank-you for posting the right link.

Team Group makes some nice DDR4. My HyperX 3333MHz RAM barely managed 3400MHz, but that was 2 years ago when yields were lower. I am glad to be running now at 4.8GHz with 3866MHz RAM.

It isn't unusual to see overclocks that once were stable get a little flaky after time and electromigration. I have had it happen especially with GPUs and GPU memory.

This is the very best May I can remember in the Cali High Desert in ... well, ever.

It's staying cool but warms up to about 80F during the day with a light breeze. All the cactus is now blooming and I tend to take at least two walks a day now. It is *that* nice. I am going to return to VR with a new evaluation and I added a new VR game, X-RebirthVR that I will be exploring for benching

(I got it for $13.60 from GamersGate)

I hope you continue to get great weather also!

OK, I'm back to ... work

Almost gone ... free 2014 classic game Age of Wonders III on Humble Bundle.

World of Goo is free on the Epic platform - just log into the Epic launcher.
Very positive on Steam (and $9.99 there)

I'm working on a VR performance review with a dozen games - RTX 2070/2060 vs. GTX 1080/1070. And then will add Vega 64/56 as soon as new AMD drivers are released. We got GeForce Game Ready 430.64 drivers on Thursday; not going to do a performance analysis of this one. I have to update my benching suite for my upgraded platform speeds (i7@4.8GHz/DDR4@3866MHz).

Nvidia exceeded earnings expectations yesterday and their stock rose a bit. Lots of AMD news coming from Computex and E3. I won't be attending either event in person.
I took a little break but am back to work ...

Next up the latest driver 430.86 by Thursday. Then RTX Quake II on June 6.
