Let's turn SteelCrysis' news posts into a news section for BTR
#1
I just wanted to comment regarding how much I enjoy reading the links SteelCrysis posts to BTR. They have a real professional feel to them IMO. I find that he filters out all the noise and only posts interesting and relevant content. I really think this would make a fantastic news feed section for BTR right on the main page. What do you guys think? I think it would draw readership to BTR. I guess the issue becomes consistency and who maintains it if/when he can't do it. I would be willing to help post links. I don't know if there is a way for this to be done. Perhaps Mario would know.

Anyhow I just wanted to throw this one out there, I have had this thought previously but was not so adamant about it. This would really be a great idea for BTR IMO.

I think it's a good idea that depends on several things. Let's see what Mario says about a practical implementation of this idea.

Are you talking about a news feed page like this one?

Kind of. I think you could basically transplant SteelCrysis' forum news posts to the main page. I think it would look best on a side panel on the right hand side of the main page.

I passed this on to Mario to see what he thinks about a practical implementation of this.

Sounds good. I'm sure Mario can figure it out.

Mario pointed out that we actually feature news posts from BTR;s forum already - Main page under "recent forum topics"
http://www.babeltechreviews.com/

Do you think we should have a separate news page like this one?
http://www.overclockers.com.au/
Huh

Have a look at how AnandTech does it. They have a "pipeline stories" panel on the right hand side along with a "submit news" button. I really like it like that personally. We could start with a dedicated news section like you have shown. I just know that for me personally, when I'm interested in an upcoming product like Vega or Volta, I Google search it and I'm sure those news sites get a ton of hits that way. I think BTR could do quite well with a news section. We have several people that could contribute.

I am interested to see what Mario says . . .
:wait:

A news page like Overclockers.com.au is very easy to update . . . perhaps "pipeline stories" could link to it.
- the news could be posted here on the forum (as usual) first, and then posted to the main site . . .

Yes that sounds good to me also, so long as Mario says it's possible and not too complicated.
