What's happening at BTR *17*

I cannot resist posting this. One of my favorite games of all times is getting a sequel next year.

Quote:Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is a cult RPG classic, famed for its excellent branching story, immersive sim gameplay, and top-notch writing. Originally released in 2004, the community has modded and enhanced Bloodlines in the time since, while they waited for a sequel, which has now been announced!

Coming next year, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 features reactive storytelling, fast-paced melee combat, and intriguing characters with their own hidden motives.

In addition, we can announce that NVIDIA is the official graphics partner for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, meaning that we will work closely with Paradox to integrate real-time ray tracing effects and performance-enhancing DLSS technology, to deliver the best possible experience for PC gamers.

Adrenalin Software Edition 19.3.3 Driver Performance Analysis

Expanded VR performance comparing the RTX 2080 and the GTX 1080 Ti is coming next week

I doubt I will bother with the new Oculus Rift S (S=sidegrade) but will continue benching the original until it breaks or until Oculus does a real upgrade.
(unless they want to send it to me for evaluation which is doubtful).

I dropped The Division 1 and Battlefield 1 from my benchmark suite but am adding Anthem (& Overwatch) to it with no net loss - still 42 benchmarks.

Expect a DLSS performance review of the 5 games that use it with all 4 RTX cards early next week.
- then VR

DLSS Ultra Performance in Anthem, BFV, FFXV, Metro Exodus, & SotTR

The Witness is free on Epic. Just sign in and add it to your library - if you don't mind another platform.

It's $40 on Steam and has got some great reviews. It's a puzzler
https://store.steampowered.com/app/210970/The_Witness/

Steam has got its brain-damaged fanboys up in arms over Epic "stealing" sales from it with their timed 'exclusives' like Metro Exodus and the upcoming Borderlands game. Steam is greedy and demands a huge cut from the publishers while Epic takes way less.

I don't see why Steam has any fans as it has no customer service worth a crap and everything they do positive is in response to their competitors providing better service. Every one of these platforms are just DRM anyway and they deserve no gamer fans. I wish Epic a lot of luck as an emerging competitor. At least they give away great games every two weeks.

Path-traced Global Illumination mod for Minecraft. It's a software mod and it's playable on a GTX 1080 at 1920x1080 (but not at 2560x1440; too demanding). Looks incredible . . .

Hey "Poppin" I'm just checking in to see how you are. Things are ok here. The weather is getting nice. I haven't been into gaming for a bit but that may change. I have a feeling that this hobby may go to the wayside for me for some time, perhaps somewhat permanently. I'm just finding the "real world" a lot more interesting. I hope all is well in the desert sun.

How is your health holding up? I seem to be doing pretty good in that respect. People are commenting that I look at least 10 years younger than I really am. I'm looking forward to getting into the best shape of my life this summer hopefully. We'll see. My brother in law to be wants to do some 50km bike rides with me. I did 28km towing a 7 year old on the weekend. Perhaps I could do 50km if I build up to it. He's 10 years younger than me and I'm no longer feeling like a spring chicken. ;)

I'm glad you are doing great. I also let this forum go to focus on things that are more important to me (like benching/reviewing, and I'm back fully to VR). I also began work on my first novel which is going to be a very long project.

My health is great and I am grateful to be feeling so good - much better than I have felt in years - and I am also focusing more on *me*.

And I'll post a new review tomorrow of all the Pascal (and Turing) cards that can now run ray tracing.

In some sad world news, the Cathedral of Notre Dame has been badly burned yesterday in a massive fire in Paris. Such a loss.
